YADA Launches Culture & Conversation: Let’s Talk Mental Health

Mental Health issues will be the leading cause of absence from the workplace in the UK this year, but we still don’t talk about it enough. Thatโ€™s why the yada events team have chosen โ€˜Letโ€™s Talk Mental Healthโ€™ as the first topic for our Culture & Conversation event series. It will bring together Londonโ€™s leading voices on Mental Health to breach the debate and support the Central London branch of The Samaritans charity. Chaired by TV behavioural expert Richard Daniel Curtis of The Mentoring School, we ask you to join us for an afternoon of discussion groups, networking and popup stores with guest facilitators:

  • Claire Eastham (author of Weโ€™re All Mad Here and featured on ITVโ€™s โ€˜This Morningโ€™)
  • George David Hodgson (Fashion designer behind Maison De Choup, Winner of British Fashion Startup Awards 2016 & featured in Vanity Fair)
  • Clare Scivier (Music Agent and founder of the Charity โ€˜Your Green Roomโ€™).
  • There will also be guest visits from Mental Health campaigners Jonny Benjamin MBE and Neil Laybourn from the charity Heads Together

There will be 4 group discussions hosted by the facilitators which are: Mental Health in the Workplace, Mental Health and the Arts, Breaking the Taboo, and The Hidden Issue: Anxiety. These will give a comprehensive view of Mental Health as it intersects both the corporate and creative worlds of work. The afternoon sessions will culminate with all the groups joining together in a large round table discussion about all the content and issues raised. The evening will end with networking and a marketplace where you can get your hands on Georgeโ€™s designs and Claireโ€™s book, with drinks provided from healthy brand Vivid Matcha, and live music to support the Sing For Samaritans campaign. There will be a minimum donation of ยฃ4 to attend, as that is the cost of a single call to The Samaritans (with all proceeds going to The Samaritans, so give what you can!), with registration taken on the yada Events app – available on the App store and Google Play.

This is an amazing opportunity to cover the crucial topic of the moment, 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a Mental Health problem each year. Itโ€™s an important cause and important to yada, so we want to raise as much awareness as possible: โ€˜Itโ€™s shocking when you see the statistics of how many people are actually affected by mental health. Itโ€™s starting to gain traction with the media, but there needs to be more attention given, so we had to try and do our bit and partner with The Samaritans.โ€™ – Mehram Sumray-Roots yadaโ€™s Product Director. Come support one of the largest and most hidden epidemics of our era and learn and discuss what can be done on April 19th 1-6 PM, at 1 Primrose Street, London or for more information head to https://www.yada.live/ .
