Cloud computing has experienced exponential growth over the past few years, and enterprises are adopting it on a large scale. Businesses use cloud platforms to gain immediate access to computing power, and to create new applications on demand. This growth is only expected to increase over the coming years.

Arvind mehrotra shares his thoughts on the four major cloud trends right now

NIIT helps many customers as they embark on their journey into the cloud, and in my experience there are four major cloud trends right now that are shaping our industry:

Hybrid Clouds lead to Bimodal IT

There has been a long and ongoing debate about the relative merits of public and private cloud models. Hybrid clouds feature an infrastructure that combines private cloud security with cost-effective, powerful and scalable public cloud attributes. For enterprises Bimodal ITย is emerging as a strategy of managing two separate, coherent modes of IT delivery, one focused on stability and the other on agility. The former is traditional and sequential, emphasising safety and accuracy. The latter is exploratory and nonlinear, emphasising agility and speed for projects that help innovate, differentiate & transform the business. As hybrid models become mainstream, NIIT has been assisting customers to adopt this cloud deployment model, so that they can leverage a best of both worlds experience.

The share of SaaS of total applications spend is accelerating

Currently 30% of the application budget is spent on SaaS-based applications. This is projected to grow steadily over next few years. NIIT is helping its customers to deploy their on premise applications on the Cloud and offer them as SaaS-based applications with a monthly subscription model.ย  ย

Public Cloud Adoptionย

AWS is currently the cloud market leader with its greater economies of scale, but Microsoft is quickly catching up and finally getting Azure on track. NIIT has developed partnerships with both AWS and Microsoft Azure and built strong capability across them. We are helping customers across the United States, Europe and APAC markets to migrate and deploy a broad range of applications to these public cloud ecosystems.

Vertically-focused cloud businesses

Deep vertical market expertise combined with the ability to deliver new apps quickly on a cloud platform is leading to faster customer wins and increased credibility in the vertical market served. NIIT is leveraging its Travel & BFSI vertical expertise to move on premise applications and solutions so that they can be offered as SaaS as managed services.ย  ย
