Stratoscale Achieves OpenStack Powered Validation

Stratoscale, the software platform for hyper-converged infrastructure, confirmed its support of OpenStack initiatives at the OpenStack Summit in Vancouver lastย week. Stratoscale is now a validated OpenStack Powered solution provider. Stratoscale commits today to support the OpenStack Federated Identity initiative, to be generally available by end of 2015.

[quote_box_center]โ€œWe applaud OpenStackโ€™s efforts, and feel the Powered validation and Federated Identity initiative are two major steps in moving from being a “de facto” standard to solidifying an actual industry standard the ecosystem can rally behind for a truly open cloud,โ€

said Stratoscale founder and CEO Ariel Maislos.[/quote_box_center]

Stratoscale announces its designation as an OpenStack Powered solution provider, meaning it has been validated by OpenStack. As an OpenStack Powered Compute partner, Stratoscaleโ€™s software has passed the initial round of interoperability tests coming out of Defcore, complying with OpenStackโ€™s interoperability guidelines. OpenStack Powered partners comply with standards that confirm them as part of a truly open cloud ecosystem. Interoperability testing results are available in OpenStack Marketplace where users can now plug into a global network of OpenStack Powered cloud service providers including Stratoscale and 13 other companies.

Stratoscale also publicly announced its commitment to deliver products that support OpenStack Identity Federation by end of 2015. A new feature in OpenStackโ€™s Kilo release of Keystone, Federated Identity is an “enabler” for hybrid and multi-clouds, unlocking the potential of the larger cloud ecosystem. The truest power of this federated capability is realized through broad industry support such as that from Stratoscale who, along with 25 others announced at Summit, will make these distributions, appliances and public clouds generally available by end of 2015.

โ€œThese two designations of several in our partner network, including Stratoscale, support our commitment to interoperability,โ€ said Jonathan Bryce, executive director, OpenStack Foundation. ย โ€œWe believe this interoperability will allow the industry to focus on building and consuming cloud infrastructure, minimizing vendor lock-in.ย  This will simultaneously allow vendors to innovate in areas that don’t void compatibility or sacrifice openness.โ€
